This technique of dyeing is called "Arashi" shibori. It's a simple and effective method of dyeing, creating stripes.

I learnt this at Tokyo Zokei University (Art & Design) by Ohashi Sensei.

After fastening it securely to a tube, I dyed it in natural indigo dye.
