During my textile degree, I studied for three months in Tokyo, Japan, as part of the Erasmus programme.  I studied at Tokyo Zokei University and I was given a masterclass in 'shibori' by Ohashi Sensei.
Shibori is the Japanese term for dye-resist technique of binding, clamping or gathering the cloth so that the dye cannot reach certain parts.  This results in the most powerful combinations; a carefully structured design with the organic freedom of the unpredictable.
