Making an epaulet

As I was manipulating some large pieces of paper, I made this form which reminded me of an oversized epaulet.

I considered what materials to use and how I could created a flexible form from something rigid. I laser cut pieces of wood and perspex and based these pieces on lycra fabric to hold it together, with addition stitched in the corners.
